Policy on Hostile Conduct/Harassment at Conferences Purpose and Scope of Policy   The Center for Inquiry (CFI) and its programs, the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry and the Council for Secular Humanism, are educational organizations. As part of our educational mission, we hold conferences from time to time. To ensure that everyone attending our conferences is able to participate in them fully, CFI and its affiliates are committed to providing a safe and hospitable environment at our conferences. Accordingly, CFI and its affiliates prohibit intimidating, threatening, or harassing conduct during our conferences. This policy applies to speakers, staff, volunteers, and attendees. “Conferences” for purpose of this policy includes any educational meeting or gathering organized or sponsored by CFI or its affiliates to which nonemployees are invited. The CSI(COP) executive council has long discussed how to keep before the public the names of the great, now-deceased skeptics who made extraordinary contributions to the causes of science and skepticism in the modern era. Some were already well established when CSICOP (the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal) was created in 1976 and became founding fellows; others were elected as fellows later. A lock convoy occurs when multiple threads of equal priority contend repeatedly for the same lock. [1] Unlike deadlock and livelock situations, the threads in a lock convoy do progress; however, each time a thread attempts to acquire the lock and fails, it relinquishes the remainder of its scheduling quantum and forces a context switch.
